Rodney J. Y. Ho, Ph.D.
 - Consulting Scientist

A Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington, Seattle, Dr. Rodney Ho has been working in the area of virology and antiviral drug, cytokine, and vaccine delivery for more than ten years. He has appointments at the Center for AIDS Research, the University of Washington Regional Primate Research Center, the Center for Human Development and Disability, and Clinical Pharmacology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

After obtaining his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis, Dr. Ho earned an M.S. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Drug Delivery and Targeting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His postdoctoral studies were in California, in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also worked as a Research Associate. Dr Ho joined the faculty at the University of Washington in 1990, where his distinguished research led to his becoming managing editor of the “Frontiers in Biosciences” series. In 2001, the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, England, honored Dr. Ho as International Scientist of the Year for 2001.

Dr. Ho currently pursues several studies examining anti-HIV drug delivery and vaccine strategies with National Institutes of Health funding. His findings regarding the “Kinetics and Mechanisms of Mother-to-Fetus HIV Transmission” and other aspects of the macaque model, which is the primate model that most closely resembles the human for the purposes of HIV research, have contributed significantly to the understanding of maternal and pediatric AIDS. Dr. Ho also participates in a Pediatric Brain Tumor Clinical Trials Consortium.
