Mission

To Implement Clinical Research and Targeted Therapies for Pandemic Infectious Diseases, Cancers, and Autoimmune Disorders

Cancer Studies

Lhasa Let There Be Hope Medical Research Institute is sponsoring an important new anti-cancer study PAWS HELPING PEOPLE to develop a new immune treatment for companion animals and cancer patients with malignancies that have failed conventional therapies as a consequence of tumor resistance.

Our study, planned to begin in 2011, will be conducted under the direction, supervision, and management of the Comparative Oncology Program, a division of the National Cancer Institute. The initial investigation will be conducted at a number of Veterinary Medical centers collaborating with the NCI, where our experimental treatment protocol will be administered to pet dogs suffering from malignant Lymphoma. Additional canine malignancies will be studied in follow up stages with the NCI.

The principle objective of this initial study will be to determine treatment response to a novel cancer vaccine in conjunction with immune therapy in pet dogs to save their lives, and subsequently to apply to the FDA for rapid Orphan Drug approval for humans with a variety of carcinomas that have failed treatments.

Our study will employ a cancer vaccine and immune modulating compounds which are directed at rallying the body’s immune cells to identify and destroy malignant cells in the primary tumor as well as in the distant metastases.

The first step required for the development of this compound for humans is the compassionate treatment of pet dogs suffering from resistant cancers.

The NCI is responsible for development of the treatment protocol with Let There Be Hope, as the Sponsor of this project. The NCI develops the budget, monitors the study and analyzes the data.

Let There Be Hope is responsible for the study design, treatment objectives, and all study costs associated with this project. We must raise charitable funds in tax-deductible donations so that we may begin the first canine project in 2011 and apply for the first human trials by 2012.
